    Last updated: January 17, 2026

    1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you use the site.

    2. How We Use Cookies

SnapSiteScan uses cookies for the following purposes:

    2.1 Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. These cookies collect information such as:

    • Pages you visit and time spent on each page
    • How you arrived at our site (referral source)
    • Your general geographic location (country/city level)
    • Device type, browser, and operating system
    • Anonymized IP address

This data helps us improve our service and user experience. Google Analytics cookies include:

    • _ga: Used to distinguish users (expires after 2 years)
    • _ga_*: Used to persist session state (expires after 2 years)

    2.2 Local Storage (Not Cookies)

We also use your browser's local storage (which is different from cookies) to save:

    • Your scan history (stored only on your device)
    • Theme preferences (light/dark mode)

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

    3. Third-Party Cookies

The cookies set by Google Analytics are third-party cookies. Google may use this data in accordance with their own privacy policy.

For more information about how Google uses data, visit: Google's Privacy Policy

    4. Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies in several ways:

    4.1 Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:

    • View and delete cookies stored on your device
    • Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
    • Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is set

Note that blocking cookies may affect the functionality of some websites.

    4.2 Google Analytics Opt-Out

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

    4.3 Clearing Local Storage

To clear local storage data (scan history and theme preferences), you can:

    • Use your browser's developer tools to clear site data
    • Clear your browser's cache and cookies (this will also clear local storage)

    5. Do Not Track

Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature that signals to websites that you do not want your online activity tracked. We currently do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the method described above.

    6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
