    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: January 17, 2026

    1. Introduction

Welcome to SnapSiteScan ("we," "our," "us"). We provide a free website performance scanning tool. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any information collected while using our service.

This Privacy Policy applies globally and is designed to comply with laws including GDPR, CPRA, LGPD, PIPEDA, and other international standards.

    2. Information We Collect

    2.1 URLs You Submit

When you enter a website URL for analysis, we collect that URL to run the scan using the Google PageSpeed Insights API.

    2.2 Temporary Cached Results

We store scan results for 12–24 hours to speed up repeated queries. Cached data is automatically deleted.

2.3 Automatic Technical Data (Server Logs)

To operate our service securely, our servers may automatically collect:

    • IP address
    • Browser type and version
    • Device information
    • Date and time of access
    • Basic geographic region (country-level)

This information is not used to identify individuals and is deleted routinely.

    2.4 Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to save:

    • Your scan history (stored only on your device)
    • Theme preferences (light/dark mode)

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

    3. How We Use Your Information

    We use information to:

    • Provide website performance analysis
    • Improve the speed and stability of our service
    • Cache results temporarily
    • Detect security issues (e.g., misuse, bot attacks)
    • Improve overall functionality

    4. Third-Party Services

    4.1 Google PageSpeed Insights

All scans are powered by Google's PageSpeed Insights API. When you submit a URL, the URL is sent to Google's servers for analysis. Google's Privacy Policy applies to that portion of data processing.

    4.2 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. This helps us improve our service and user experience. Google Analytics collects:

    • Pages you visit and time spent on each page
    • How you arrived at our site (referral source)
    • Your general geographic location (country/city level)
    • Device type, browser, and operating system
    • Anonymized IP address

Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites.

    5. Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

    • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data about how visitors interact with our website.
    • Functional cookies: We use local storage (not traditional cookies) to save your theme preferences and scan history on your device only.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality.

    6. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR Requirement)

For users in the EU/EEA, we process data under these bases:

    • Legitimate Interest: Operating a secure website performance tool, preventing abuse, maintaining logs, caching results, and analyzing website usage to improve our service.
    • Contract Performance: Processing URLs to provide the analysis service you requested.

    7. International Data Transfers

Our servers and providers may operate globally. By using our service, you acknowledge that data may be processed in countries outside your region. We take reasonable steps to protect data during international transfers.

    8. Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no Internet transmission is 100% secure.

    9. Data Retention

    • URLs and scan results are stored only in temporary cache for 12–24 hours.
    • Server logs are stored only as long as necessary for security and maintenance.
    • We do not permanently store the URLs you scan.

    10. Your Rights

    EU/EEA (GDPR) Users May Request:

    • Access to your data
    • Correction or deletion
    • Restriction of processing
    • Objection to processing
    • Data portability

Because we do not store identifiable personal data, requests may be limited by what data exists.

California Users (CPRA) Have Rights To:

    • Know what information is collected
    • Request deletion of personal information
    • Non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

Brazil (LGPD) Users Have Similar Rights

To exercise rights, email us at snapsitescan@yahoo.com.

    11. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

    12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
